Visitor Protocol & Guide

Welcome to the Gurudwara. We are open hourly and represent deep peace. Join us in following these cultural guidelines out of respect.

The Winnipeg South Sikh Centre houses the divine presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. As a result, the premises is deemed holy ground. Visitors of every nationality, background, faith, or no faith are deeply welcomed to attend.

No Intoxicants

You MUST not enter the building if you have recently consumed alcohol or tobacco products. Carrying smoking materials inside the premises is strictly forbidden.

Head Coverings

Both men and women must cover their heads while inside the main halls. Fabric scarves (Rumals) are available in baskets near the shoe racks for you to use.

Remove Footwear

Shoes must be removed and placed in the designated shoe lockers before crossing the threshold to the spiritual space. Socks can remain on or can be discarded.

Respectful Sitting

In the Diwan hall, todos sit on the floor level to denote equality. Focus on folding your feet politely away from direct pointing at Scripture.

Mute Mobile Devices

Please set your mobile devices to silent or vibration mode out of consideration for prayers and silent meditation of the Sangat.

Chairs and Benches

For seniors or those experiencing physical disabilities or back pains, custom visual chairs and benches are placed respectfully inside the prayer hall.

The Winnipeg South Sikh Centre facility offers full accessible ramps, clear entry ways, elevators/lifts for seniors, and abundant private parking at the back of the building.
